My Gear

I often get asked what kind of photography equipment I use for my documentary photography, video filming and visual art. Below, I have compiled a list of everything I own that I believe is worthy enough to mention. But before I dig into my gear I would like to remind you something that is crucial: your camera doesn’t take the photographs – you do! Your camera is just a tool to create images. Just like buying good quality brushes won’t turn you into a great painter, buying an expensive camera won’t turn you into a good photographer. Yeah, some cameras and lenses deliver better quality, but each image is only as good as the person who takes the photograph is. So don’t despair if your camera is not the best one in the market, and instead, focus on learning how to make great photographs.

This will give me some little extra money and will ultimately help me to continue creating documentary projects and visual art. Thanks so much for your support!

Canon EOS 6D Mark II
I have loved this camera since day one. It gives me everything I need and more. I use it as a main camera for photography but also for video filming. The vari-angle LCD monitor, which makes Live View possible and Touch AF is a game changer. If you are looking for a full frame DSLR, I would highly recommend the Canon EOS 6D Mark II.
purchase
Canon EF-S 24 mm f/2.8 IS USM
This little prime lens does the job, it is cheap and not as big and very obvious as my huge 24-105 mm. I use it on small environments or when I want to be more subtle. People are also often less intimidated by it so it is perfect for my documentary project. I would highly recommend for anyone wanting to explore and get into prime lenses!
purchase
Canon EF 24-105 mm f/4 L IS USM
With the Canon EF 24-105 mm f4 I carry just one lens of high quality image and moderate size, and shoot with it all day. It handles every photographic situation without having to be changing your gear all the time as it is a very versatile lens. I would highly recommend this lens, as I believe it would make a great addition to your equipment!
purchase
Canon 35 mm f/1.4 L II USM
The Canon EF 35 mm f1.4 is my favourite prime lens to work on documentary projects and video filming. With a fixed camera lens I have to think through my shots more, which stretches my skills and also helps me to get closer to the people I want to document. This lens is a must for me, so I do not go anywhere without this lens!
purchase
Canon EF 70-300 mm f/4-5.6 IS USM
The Canon EF 70-300 mm f4.0-5.6 is an awesome lens and adds another dimension to my photographical opportunities. This lens is a better choice than even some higher-prices lenses for al least some applications including video. It is a good lens that I use for casual photography and it is a worthwhile addition to my photography equipment!
purchase
SanDisk Memory Card
You will need lots of memory cards, especially if you are shooting RAW or video. I have on my gear a variety of SanDisk, including a few Extreme Pro 128GB SD for my Canon EOS 6D Mark II and a SanDisk Extreme 128GB Micro SD which I use with the Mavic Mini Drone. I highly recommend these cards as they have always worked perfectly!
purchase
Mac Book Pro 13''
The Macbook Pro 13” is my workhorse and I feel very privileged to have such a machine for my photo and video editing. It is an amazing laptop and still very light, so I can travel abroad with it as it offers me the best combination of performance and portability. I would highly recommend this laptop as it has never let me down!
purchase
iPad Mini
An iPad Mini is a small and great device for me trips. I use it to read books, search on the web, send email, and work with simple documents as it is easy to hold with one hand, and easy to carry around. I Would highly recommend this iPad Mini if you want a small and light tablet, and don’t need the “pro” specifications of the more expensive devices!
purchase
Wacom Intuos Pro
It is hard to explain just how useful and essential a tablet became for editing my images. These tablets allow you to use pressure-sensitive pen on an interactable surface, which is excellent for photo editing. I highly recommend it as there is no question I work more efficiently and accurately with this Wacom Intuos Pro tablet!
purchase
Magic Mouse 2
The Apple Magic Mouse 2 looks lovely and it is very good either working at the office, at home, or on the laptop from the cafe. It pairs via Bluetooth, which is always a must if you don’t have a fix office. It is a great addition to my gear as I use it mainly to edit video on Adobe Premier Pro, so I highly recommend this mouse!
purchase
DJI Mavic Mini
This drone goes without saying really. I don’t go anywhere without the DJI Mavic Mini Combo. I would highly recommend this drone as it is ultra light (249 g) and the best value drone on the market, also the quietest one! It basically adds another dimension to my videos and, of course, it is great fun to play with too!
purchase
Pixel Wireless Shutter Release
I use a remote control when I take long shot exposure, because touching the camera shutter makes the camera move a little. The Pixel LCD Wireless Shutter Release helps you even further, tripping the shutter without moving the camera. And if you are into long exposure photography, then you absolutely have to get it!
purchase
Rode Video Mic
Perfectly suited for my Canon EOS 6 Mark II and my video filming. This microphone has a fantastic audio quality even in windy scenarios, also great for capturing those ever-important ambient sounds. If you are filming with your DSLR, this is the microphone you should go for!
purchase
K&F Concept Tripod
I use K&F Concept Tripod in order to reduce camera shake and capture better sharper photos, especially when I am shooting at lower speeds, which is almost always the case when I shoot long exposure photography. I highly recommend it if you want a good quality, well build and sturdy tripod!
purchase
K&F Concept Camera Backpack
The appearance and comfort of the K&F Concept Camera Backpack is great. I use this pack either to go on the field or travel abroad as it can fit a monumental amount of camera equipment, which is wonderfully manageable. If you need a stylish and cost effective gear carrier, this is your backpack!
purchase
WD Elements Hard Drive
Whenever I transfer important photos onto my computer, I make sure that I export them into an external hard drive at the same time. This means that I have access to separate back-ups. As I travel and prefer to work on my laptop on location, I have a portable external hard drive. I highly recommend a WD Elements External Hard Drive as doesn’t need an external power source!
purchase
LP-E6 Batteries & Charger
I keep lots of batteries on hand, especially when I am shooting outside. There is nothing worse than running out of battery power during an epic photography moment! That is why I always carry spare batteries for my cameras. I own 5 batteries and also I always carry with me a car charger to be able to charge the batteries even on the road, definitely a must have!
purchase
Lens Filters Kit
I buy filter kits for each of the lenses I own. The Ultraviolet (UV) filter helps protect your valuable investment from dust, moisture and scratches, which can lead to costly repairs. I also carry Neutral Density (ND) filters in my gear. Creative filters come in handy in various photography scenes. From photographing sunsets to long exposures, you can only benefit from the usage of creative filters!
