Manel Quiros

Visual Artist

Born in Barcelona in 1984, I have been living in Edinburgh for the past 12 years, an inspiring city crammed with awe-inspiring art, architecture and heritage. Since I was 10 I spent my years behind a camera. I haven’t sailed with pirates, nor have I climbed Everest or been to Antarctica. But I have travelled and lived in many far away places to create countless photographs and document people and their customs. I love finding humour in anything and I have made my life’s goal to be as creative as possible towards everything I do.

I am a visual artist fascinated by the world that surrounds me here in Scotland. Photography is not simply vocation but my lifeblood. I live totally inside photography, even when I am not with a camera. I spend my days travelling all around the world and I create images that inspire, uplift, and excite the viewers. On the other hand, I also work exploring socially excluded communities and humanistic stories. My passion for documentary photography has been developed in several European countries, as well as other countries such as Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Egypt, Tanzania, India, Bangladesh, Thailand, and Cambodia and I have collaborated with the Red Cross, UNHCR (The United Nations Refugee Agency), the WFP (World food programme) and a diverse range of independent NGO’s. My focus has been on long-term photographic projects; in this way I achieve a deeper, sincere and empathetic approach with the stories and people I document.

I have won a boatload of awards for my work, and I’m grateful for every single one of them. I also published books and I am a TEDx speaker for the University of Edinburgh. I believe deeply in teamwork, community, and collaboration so let’s be friends. Better yet, let’s climb Everest!

Why Choose me?

PASSION

Photography is not simply vocation but my lifeblood. I live totally inside photography, even when I am not with a camera I photograph with my eyes and heart.

Professional Skills

I have been a photographer since I was 9 years old, which is nearly my entire life. I continuously attend masterclasses around the world to learn from the best in the field.

Unic Vision

It is important to see with your heart rather than just with your eyes. Over the years I mastered a unique vision showing my heart and soul in every picture I take.

Perfect Equipment

Gear isn’t what is all about; it is how you use it. But the key piece of my photography equipment is a Canon 6D Mark II, along with the best canon lenses in the market.

Approach

I approach each assignment in the most professional way, learning over the years how to photograph in any situation. I have a highly skilled and trained eye for detail.

Achievements

I have been awarded in the most prestigious photography competitions around the world. I have also published books and I am a TEDx speaker for the University of Edinburgh.
